BRATISLAVA, August 25, (WEBNOVINY) — After the Hungarian Presidency in the EU Council ended, the country wants to focus on strengthening regional cooperation and neighborly relations, stated new Hungarian Ambassador to Slovakia Csaba Balogh, whom Slovakia’s Foreign Affairs Minister Mikulas Dzurinda received on Thursday. The head of Slovak diplomacy also accepted copies of the ambassador’s credentials.
At the meeting, the minister and the ambassador devoted attention to Slovak-Hungarian relations, their future development, including prepared activities. They evaluated as very constructive the cooperation between the Hungarian Presidency in the EU Council and Slovakia’s Presidency of the Visegrad Group. They also appreciated results of mutual cooperation in transport and energy infrastructure, while confirmed interest in moving forward in negations on open issues. The talks also focused on common foreign policy priorities, in particular EU enlargement, the western Balkans, Eastern Partnership, which are topics where the two countries share positions.
