BRATISLAVA, November 11, (WEBNOVINY) – Anna Belousova (opposition SNS) has lost yet another post within the party. After being unsuccessful in her candidature for the party leader at the SNS congress, the party presidency removed her from the office of chairwoman of SNS regional structure in Cadca. Frantisek Kolembus has replaced her on the post.
Belousova advocated an LS-HZDS candidate for the mayor of Cadca in the forthcoming communal election instead of SNS party member Pavol Holestiak. In an interview for SITA news agency, SNS chairman Jan Slota admitted that “I think differently within regional elections in Cadca. I think a member of SNS, not of another political party should be nominated for the mayor. Ms. Belousova supports a member of the HZDS and that is probably why I am the enemy. I think the post of the mayor of a regional town is so important that the SNS presidency should take a position [on it] on all accounts. It did adopt a clear position. It supported a long-standing member of the SNS and the vice-chairman of the district council in Cadca, Mr. Holestiak. […] Unfortunately, it is not my responsibility that she has a different opinion,” Slota said.
According to Belousova, the greatest problem of Slota is his personal hatred and vengeance for her daring to run for the party chairwoman post and to openly name the reasons for SNS failure in the parliamentary election. She believes that the reasons were scandals such as the bulletin- board tender at the Construction Ministry, the AAU emissions sale, and other exposed scandals connected with the names of Slota’s nominees to state posts.
Belousova went on to say that Jozef Vrazel (non-parliamentary HZDS) was adopted as an SNS candidate for the mayor of Cadca by the whole SNS district conference in Cadca – which means all the members in the district. ”He was not my personal nominee, while Holestiak is a personal nominee of Jan Slota. That is the difference between me and Slota, in perceiving democracy and of what is normal. I do not consider it to be normal when someone who failed in Zilina in the election of the mayor as Slota did, who scored almost last in the county election and who brought SNS from almost 13 to 5 percent wants to decide on who will be the mayor of Cadca,” Belousova said in an interview for SITA news agency.
Belousova added that Holestiak is Slota’s personal nominee, whereas citizens of Cadca should consider well who will receive their vote. What can happen is that “If Slota takes control of Cadca through his nominee, in a short time we might become infamous thanks to new scandals in the style of the bulletin-board tender or the emission allowances”. “Slota has neither political nor moral right to impose his ‘friend’ Holestiak to Cadca’s citizens,” said Belousova adding that Slota’s friends already became infamous thanks to many scandals during the last four years. She considers it an irony that an SNS member who voted for Vrazel and not for Holestiak became the new head of Cadca district council.
