BRATISLAVA, August 27, (WEBNOVINY) – The Cabinet on Friday recalled Dusan Munko from the post of the director of the social security provider Socialna Poistovna. The reasons for his dismissal were so serious that the Office to Fight Corruption will deal with the case, stated Prime Minister Iveta Radicova following the Cabinet session. She mentioned grave legal violations in the economic performance of the social security provider.
The proposal to sack Munko came from Labor Minister Jozef Mihal because the SP head failed to fulfill his duties arising from the post and defined by law. Following the Cabinet session, Mihal told journalists that Munko failed to meet ten resolutions adopted by the supervision board and ignored tasks related to strategic goals, such as a higher collection of social insurance contributions and stronger success rate of recovered claims that amounted to EUR 867,000 as of June 2010.
Munko was appointed to the post by the Cabinet of Robert Fico. The center-right Cabinet objected to his attendance to the Cabinet session because he simultaneously serves in the parliament as a deputy for SMER-SD. Pursuant to the law, Munko should have remained in the post until 2014, so he refused to resign after he started to execute his MP mandate in the parliament.
