TRENCIN, February 5, (WEBNOVINY)- At a meeting of the party’s republic leadership LS-HZDS boss Vladimir Meciar said they were ready to cooperate and talk with all political parties. However, he refused to speak about concrete cooperation arguing that it is a premature question. He did not rule out cooperation either with its senior partner in the previous ruling coalition, the party SMER-SD of Robert Fico. “I do not say “yes” and I do not say “no”. We need to separate from SMER,“ he said. “We have never authorized SMER to represent us. We will talk on our behalf,“ the party boss made it clear. According to him SMER is not able to fulfill expectations and only lusts for power.
The party of Vladimir Meciar analyzed on Saturday the current development in the country. Meciar thinks that Slovakia might witness a social conflict soon while tension will continue heightening. “It is just a question of time and way when it will burst out,” he said.
Meciar is also negative about the state of the judiciary in Slovakia. He said that it is becoming a tool of executive power while laws which have been enacted are at odds with the constitution and democratic principles. According to him Justice Minister Lucia Zitnanska curbs the function of courts and prosecutor offices. He believes that Slovakia is entering the early stage of a police state.
The party is still recovering from its poor election outcome in the June parliamentary race. He said that they developed much effort to definitively close this period. He thinks that the municipal elections were rather successful for the party. According to its outcome says Meciar the HZDS is the fourth strongest political party in Slovakia. The LS-HZDS is to celebrate its 20th anniversary this May in Banska Bystrica.
