BRATISLAVA, August 25, (WEBNOVINY) – On Wednesday, Slovak President Ivan Gasparovic appointed Karol Mitrik to the post of the director of the Slovak intelligence service the SIS . The Cabinet approved the nomination of former parliamentary deputy and mayor of Spisska Nova Ves to the post on July 21. The president was waiting for the required security clearance, which Mitrik had to undergo. Mitrik replaced Jozef Magala appointed to this post on July 27, 2006.
The president thanked Magala for his service, adding that the SIS made progress under his leadership. As Gasparovic said, he hopes that the new director will continue in the good job the SIS has done.
