RUZOMBEROK, October 9, (WEBNOVINY) – Zilina county will get the highest volume of funds among all Slovak counties for building of transport infrastructure next year, announced KDH chairman and Transport Minister Jan Figel after Satursday’s party Council meeting in Ruzomberok. “We have supported adoption of the draft state budget law with related legislation. We will devote special attention to senior citizens, young families, as well as self-employed persons and small businesses,” he added.
The council devoted attention to the development of the infrastructure in several debates. “Despite the unfavorable economic situation, we are glad that highways and dual carriage ways will dynamically develop. New stretches of D1 highway near Presov, Levoca and Ruzomberok will be started already next year. Moreover, it will be considerably cheaper than according to the original intention within the PPP project. The Council has appreciated that with regard to the transport situation in Zilina county, more money than in any other county will be invested in transport infrastructure there next year,” the transport minister stated.
Figel went on to say that the party positively accepted the introduction of economic electronic public procurement with anonymous actions in state-run railway companies. “The space for corruption will be eliminated and thriftiness improved,” he remarked.
With regard to the upcoming regional elections, the KDH leader said that the party has 290 mayors at present, while 651 will be running in the November elections. „I consider it a good prerequisite for successful elections,“ he declared.
KDH ex-chairman Pavol Hrusovsky expressed his belief that the party will serve as a stabilization element in the ruling coalition. “We do not want to adopt measures that would have a negative impact on the most endangered social groups of people,” Hrusovsky concluded.
