BRATISLAVA, May 4, (WEBNOVINY) — The situation on the right part of the political spectrum is pretty bad. Former Prime Minister Iveta Radicova and former Interior Minister and Deputy Chairman of the KDH Daniel Lipsic came to this conclusion during their recent meeting. „The fact is the right-wing parties continue arguing even after the elections. One of the main reasons why we lost the elections was disagreements and quarrels. Now we are fighting over posts of chairpersons of parliamentary committees, which I find totally ridiculous, “ Lipsic told reporters on Friday. He believes that voters of the center-right parties must be disgusted. „The center-right parties lack a strong vision that would catch attention. Just defending reforms from a decade ago, when the center-right parties had a vision, is not enough. The world and Slovakia have changed. We need a vision for the country, for disappointed people, for voters and we clearly do not have it,“ he said.
Lipsic said he had agreed a meeting with Radicova at the time when their government ended a month after early elections. „We agreed to meet for a friendly talk. We did have a nice talk. I will go for a cup of coffee with the former prime minister anytime,“ he said and specified they talked about politics but also family matters and added that their meetings will continue. „We are going to meet. I consider Iveta Radicova a friend. In many cases she has similar opinions as me on how politics should look like. This was probably not our last cup of coffee together,“ he said.
Radicova and Lipsic are each working on their vision for Slovakia. They will then talk about them together. „When I have it ready, I will try to present it and implement it,“ he said, and added he does not know yet whether he will be present it as a candidate for KDH chairman. He will decide on a potential candidacy for party chairman by the end of May and he did not want to speculate whether he would leave the KDH if he was not elected or if he decided not run for the post.
When asked whether he thinks Iveta Radicova would be a good new party leader, Lipsic said: „Radicova the most trusted center-right politician. Certainly, her support, popularity, would be a great asset. “ According to him, Radicova is now quite disappointed and frustrated over many things that happened in politics in the past year.
On Thursday, Iveta Radicova sent a resignation letter to the SDKU-DS party headquarters, announcing she was giving up her deputy chairperson post as well as party membership.
