BRATISLAVA, July 25, (WEBNOVINY) — The Economy Ministry is going to file a criminal complaint in association with speculations in connecting photovoltaic power plants to the national grid, announced Economy Minister Juraj Miskov on Monday. As the minister told journalists, his department suspects that some solar power plants could have been connected at odds with the law-set criteria and benefit from generous feed-in tariffs. “Following consultations with Interior Minister Daniel Lipsic we decided to submit a criminal complaint regarding these frauds. The Interior Ministry has expressed its absolute support to and cooperation in investigating these frauds,” stated Miskov.

The ministry is to sue an unknown perpetrator on Monday as minister Miskov failed to list concrete suspects, either. However, the daily Pravdarecently reported on a concrete case when an uncompleted plant near Brezno went through a final authority inspection. Despite this the yet unfinished solar power utility was to obtain subsidies from the state. Miskov underscored that the Brezno solar power plant is not the sole case. “It is not the only one case, their number is considerably higher,” he said. The Regulatory Office for Network Industries (URSO) also identified several suspicious cases,” said the minister.

The Economy Ministry said that it had been dealing with suspected frauds in installing photovoltaic power plants for longer time already. The State Energy Inspection is examining the situation while the final report from its investigation is expected to be ready and published within two weeks. Energy inspectors conducted 94 checks finding out that not all entities fulfill law-set conditions. „We will do our best to secure that each solar installation that was not connected in line with the law does not get the price decision, is not connected to the grid and is not granted subsidized electricity price as well. It is not acceptable that we pay higher price for electricity only due to some frauds,“ commented Miskov.
