BRATISLAVA, February 20, (WEBNOVINY) – Chairman of the strongest opposition SMER-SD party Robert Fico enjoys the highest credibility among Slovakia’s politicians. As much as 37.1 percent of citizens consider him a serious politician who deserves their trust. This stems from a representative poll of MVK agency that surveyed 1,128 respondents between February 7 and 12. Outgoing Prime Minister and SDKU-DS deputy leader Iveta Radicova placed second with 18.2 percent, while President Ivan Gasparovic was third in the most trusted trio with 14.3 percent.
In the poll, 12.9 percent of respondents said that MOST-HID Bela Bugar is a politician worthy of their trust, and 11.6 percent of those polled think this about Interior Minister Daniel Lipsic of the KDH party. Both leader of Ordinary People and Independent Personalities Igor Matovic and SMER-SD deputy leader Robert Kalinak are considered credible by over ten percent of those asked, too, namely 10.6 percent and 10.1 percent, respectively. Respondents could name three politicians in the trustworthiness survey.
On the other hand, the survey results show Mikulas Dzurinda as a politician causing serious problems and damaging quality of politics in the country. With 52.6 percent, he outran SNS Chairman Jan Slota, who placed second with 34.4 percent. The third least credible politician is Finance Minister and SDKU-DS Deputy Chairman Ivan Miklos, followed by SMER-SD leader Robert Fico.
