BRATISLAVA, April 24, (WEBNOVINY) — The Slovak Parliament will have on its agenda the government’s manifesto and a vote of confidence in the Robert Fico Cabinet on Thursday, May 3. Speaker of Parliament Pavol Paska convened the second parliamentary session for Wednesday, May 2, but after the introduction of the new government’s program statement and the following discussion on it in individual committees, the session will be interrupted. After the vote of confidence in the new government, lawmakers should vote on the European Stability Mechanism that is to replace the temporary European Financial Stability Facility.

The plenum will also discuss a proposal of SMER-SD MP Richard Rasi who has submitted to parliament an amendment to the health insurance law based on which the state-run health insurer Vseobecna Zdravotna Poistovna should receive additional about EUR 30 million annually.

SMER also plans to change rules in submitting proposals to the regulator to change regulated energy prices. The ruling party wants that not the board of directors where a minority shareholder has majority but the general meeting of shareholders of the regulated company controlled by the state as the majority owner decides on the pricing proposals.

Paska also announced the election of the chairwoman of the Office for Personal Data protection. Based no the cabinet’s proposal, Eleonora Krocianova is the candidate for the post.
