BRATISLAVA, November 15, (WEBNOVINY) — Police detained over twenty people on Tuesday early morning and charged 23 persons with several criminal offenses related either to violent crimes or property crimes. Interior Minister Daniel Lipsic praised the work of the Office for Combating Organized Crime and the Special Prosecution Office for their successful work. “This operation has been prepared for long and I consider the fact that absolutely no information leaked to the criminal group an inevitable prerequisite of today’s success,” the minister emphasized. In his opinion the operation was performed highly professionally. “Despite the fact that several of the accused tried to flee during the intervention, police were able to detain all the people that were interesting for the law enforcement bodies,” he said adding that if some bosses of Slovak mafia thought they were above the law, this morning convinced them about the opposite. The public will be informed in detail later about particular wordings of charges and specific criminal offenses involved. The reason is ongoing procedural actions. According to the minister, new information should be released by the end of the week.
During the intervention against the group from the Bratislava underground known under the name Pitovci, police also detained and filed charges against its known leader Juraj O. This fact was confirmed for SITA agency by his lawyer Peter Filip, who should defend him. According to publicized information, Juraj O. nicknamed Pito is the alleged boss of the group.
