BRATISLAVA, June 17, (WEBNOVINY) — Leader of the opposition SMER-SD Robert Fico is the most decent politician, according to 32.8 percent of respondents, who participated in a survey of the MVK agency. The opinion poll was carried out between June 3-9 on a sample of 1,101 respondents. Prime Minister Iveta Radicova ranked second, as 26.3 percent of those polled consider her trustworthy. President Ivan Gasparovic enjoys the trust of 16.7 percent of the respondents.
Respondents answered the question: “Which politicians do you consider decent, such that can be trusted?” Each respondents could name three politicians, thus the reported percentage does not add up to one hundred. MOST-HID leader Bela Bugar occupied the fourth place with 11.6 percent. Robert Kalinak from the opposition SMER-SD was next with 10.5 percent. Finance Minister Ivan Miklos enjoys the trust of 10.3 percent of poll participants, Interior Minister Daniel Lipsic 10 percent, and Speaker of Parliament Richard Sulik (SaS) 7.7 percent. Independent deputy and leader of the association Ordinary People Igor Matovic ranked ninth with 5.9 percent and Foreign Minister Mikulas Dzurinda was tenth with 5.8 percent.
The MVK agency asked respondents about politicians who cause problems and damage the political scene. SNS leader Jan Slota with 45.8 percent is the most troublesome politician in Slovakia. Foreign Minister Mikulas Dzurinda placed second with 23.8 percent, while Speaker of Parliament Richard Sulik came in third with 23.4 percent.
Prime Minister Iveta Radicova placed fourth on the chart of the least popular politicians, with 22.2 percent, while her predecessor Robert Fico got 21.8 percent. Finance Minister Ivan Miklos was next with 20.1 percent.
