BRATISLAVA, May 3, (WEBNOVINY) – The liberal party SaS will nominate Peter Paluda LLD for the top post at the National Security Office (NBU). “We are convinced that the candidate we are proposing is an honorable person with good reputation and an acclaimed expert,” party leader Richard Sulik remarked. In his words, the Supreme Court judge stands for guarantees that security screenings will always be issued in accordance with law, SITA learned from Sulik’s secretary Tatiana Tothova.

Paluda (1959) specializes in security-related topics, criminal issues and criminal and EU law. The Comenius University Law Faculty graduate served as a prosecutor at the District and later at the Regional Prosecutor Office in Banska Bystrica (1985-1987), a judge of the Supreme Court (since 1994 onwards) and a Eurojust’s national member for Slovakia (2004-2007).

Presently, Paluda is a Supreme Court judge whose service has been suspended due to disciplinary proceedings for having filed a criminal motion against Supreme Court President Stefan Harabin. In 2007, Harabin recalled Paluda from his post at Eurojust. Paluda ran for the post of the Supreme Court vice-president but then withdrew from the contest.
