BRATISLAVA, March 9, (WEBNOVINY) — According to SDKU-DS Chairman Mikulas Dzurinda, only a party that will not form a post-election coalition with the opposition SMER-SD party may become the leader of the center-right parties in Slovakia. As Dzurinda further told the media on Friday, SDKU-DS has always played with open hand. “We have never kept a back door open; we have not speculated. Today, we want to say, too that our position speaks clearly. No vote that citizens give to our party will end up in a coalition with SMER-SD,” he stated. The party leader went on to say that every vote for SDKU-DS is a guarantee for Slovakia to remain on the main European track. Every vote for his party will ensure that Slovakia will continue to catch up with EU countries. “Tomorrow is a milestone whether Slovakia will continue to catch up with the best or will make a U-turn the Hungarian path,” he stated.
Reflecting on the party’s election campaign, Dzurinda said that numerous meetings with the public pointed out the most pressing problems of Slovak people. According to him, people want more work opportunities above all, while they find completion of positive changes in the judiciary as very important, too. “We want to complete changes not only in the judiciary, but in prosecution services and the police, too. We have committed after twenty years since the Slovak Republic originated to appoint experts to posts based on professional criteria in public contests,” Dzurinda said. He added that the party has also a program of Roma integration on its agenda.
