BRATISLAVA, April 28, (WEBNOVINY) — The cost for which the Bratislava ice hockey stadium was rebuilt will become a topic again only after the 2011 IIHF World Hockey Championship, stated Prime Minister Iveta Radicova. “For the time being, we have forgotten about the cost of the stadium,” she said. The stadium, on rebuilding of which also a firm owned by chairman of the Slovak Ice Hockey Association Juraj Siroky is supposed to have participated, has been criticized for the price, as it cost nearly 100 million euro.

The prime minister plans to attend matches of the Slovak national team. “Sports have one great feature; you can play fair and win at the same time. No under-belt moves are needed, no lies, shouting, or slamming the table is needed,” Radicova stated.

The prime minister sees the championship as a big event that opens the doors to the world for Slovakia. She hopes that the championship will attract young people to stadiums and that the story of Slovakia’s ice hockey players under 18 will not be repeated, as they were eliminated from the elite group of countries this year. On the contrary, she has been pleased by the success of Slovakia’s women ice hockey players, who maintained their position in the best group in their premiere event and she hopes they will attract fans to stadiums in the future.
