BRATISLAVA, May 29, (WEBNOVINY) — Former members of the opposition KDH party Daniel Lipsic and Jana Zitnanska will remain in Parliament as independent deputies. They have formally announced their decision to step out of the KDH deputy faction to the party, confirmed KDH spokesman Matej Kovac. The parliamentary faction of the Christian Democrats will thus only have fourteen members and will therefore be unable to submit proposals for legislative changes on its own. The OLaNO deputy faction of Igor Matovic will become the largest opposition grouping of deputies in Parliament.

OLaNO deputy faction with its sixteen members will be the only faction able to submit proposals for changes to bills on its own. Fifteen deputy signatures are required under such proposals.

Deputies Lipsic and Zitnanska announced last Sunday that they were leaving the KDH party. Zitnanska said that neither she, nor Lipsic need to have a political party just for the sake of having it. “We don’t need to be chairpersons; we need to bring hope. If people join us, we will respond,” she said.
