The decommissioning of the two units of the V1 nuclear power plant will be extended. The completion was scheduled for late 2025. However, the situation has changed and the Nuclear and Decommissioning Company (JAVYS) will liquidate the two nuclear units in Jaslovske Bohunice by the end of 2027. “The project is very demanding. We are currently in talks with the European Commission on prolonging this project a bit,“ said Pavol Stuller, the chairman of the JAVYS Board, at the EXPO 2020 exhibition in Dubai. Behind the extending the decommissioning deadline of the two Jaslovske Bohunice nuclear power units are, among other things, the processes that minimize the impact of the decommissioning on the environment. „Extending the deadlines has no impact on money,“ said Stuller. The entire decommissioning of the V1 power plant will cost about 1.3 billion euros. More than 630 million euros have been spent so far.
