BRATISLAVA, June 15, (WEBNOVINY) — Thursday’s meeting of Prime Ministers of the Visegrad Group (V4) will mark the end of the one-year presidency of Slovakia over the regional grouping. At the meeting of Slovak Prime Minister Iveta Radicova, Czech Prime Minister Petr Necas, Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk and Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, the heads of governments are to evaluate the fulfillment of the program of the Slovak presidency, deal with issues related to the EU membership of individual countries, and discuss topics of the Hungarian EU presidency. The partners will also debate cooperation of the V4 with members of the Eastern Partnership, the EU enlargement, and cooperation of nation’s memory institutes within the Visegrad Group.
Bratislava took over the V4 Presidency on July 1, 2010. Slovakia picked the motto “Effective Visegrad – Continuity, Cohesion, Solidarity, and Awareness”, while priorities included intensifying of regional cooperation in key areas, as well as presentation of common activities on the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of the group’s establishment. The Czech Republic is to take over the rotating presidency as of July 1.
