Under the amendment, electricity generated from new RES and COH is to be supported only via auctions.
The amendment to the Act on Support for Renewable Energy Sources (RES) and Combined Heat and Power (CHP) is closer to its final approval. The Cabinet has accepted the proposals put forward by the economy ministry and has approved the amendment. The changes have yet to be passed in the Parliament. The amendment was introduced by the ministry in mid-May 2018. Under the amendment, electricity generated from new RES and CHP is to be supported only via auctions. The rights of existing producers are to be preserved, while support for new facilities will be restricted. Under the new rules, an auction for the facilities with the capacity over 500 kW will be introduced where the state will choose the one that will be given support. The final price will be the result of the auction. The economy ministry says that the priority of the amendment is to ensure costs efficiency with the minimum impact on final energy prices.
