The bill for the completion of the third and fourth nuclear reactor in Mochovce will increase, Economy Minister Peter Ziga informed during European Nuclear Energy Forum Plenary meeting held in Bratislava on Tuesday. „We have asked the representatives of Slovenske Elektrarne, who are responsible for the completion, to provide the latest figures on the budget and timetable. We obtained these figures yesterday, but have not yet analysed them,“ said Ziga, adding that the economy ministry expects the budget to rise.
The current management of the economy ministry plans to meet the representatives of Slovenske Elektrarne in Mochovce next week to make a decision about the next steps in completing the third and fourth reactor. Slovakia’s Prime Minister Robert Fico said that the ruling cabinet had laid down clear goals in the energy field including the nuclear energy expansion in its government manifesto. „In spite of the fact that the energy market does not provide sufficient impulse for the construction of new energy installations, the Slovak-Czech project of the new nuclear power plant in Jaslovske Bohunice exists,“ Fico announced.
Prime Minister has not yet specified the completion of the new nuclear power plant in Jaslovske Bohunice. „Slovenske Elektrarne is called Slovak, but the company is Italian. Italian company Enel, which owns 66 % of the company’s shares, announced that these shares would be sold to a foreign investor. This procedure is in the process, therefore the responsibility for the completion of the nuclear power plants falls on the Italian company Enel,“ Fico concluded.
