This transaction poses no threat for the economic competition, stated the European Commission.
The European Commission has given the green light to the agreement between the Czech-Slovak energy group EPH and the Italian company Enel on purchasing the stake in the power utility Slovenske Elektrarne (SE). The transaction poses no threat for the economic competition, stated the European Commission. According to the statement provided by the European Commission, the activities of companies concerned overlap only in a little extent, respectively they will still be exposed to fierce competition. “Since alternative sources of supplies exist in wholesale, companies will have no possibility or motivation to block the access of the competition onto the retail electricity market following the transaction,” the EC wrote in the statement.
