Economy Minister Peter Ziga believes that a council of experts must gather to assess whether the possible increase in the budget for the completion of Mochovce NPP is justifiable.
Economy Minister Peter Ziga confirmed for the first time that there is an ongoing debate about the need to raise funds for the completion of the third and fourth nuclear unit in Mochovce. „I can see a significant progress in communication and setting processes. In spite of this, a council of experts, who are competent in such investments, will have to meet to assess whether any increase in the budget is alright, well-founded and justified,“ Ziga said after the government’s session on Wednesday. Approximately two weeks ago, the media reported about the possible increase in the budget for the completion of nuclear blocks in Mochovce. According to the information available to the Hospodarske noviny daily, the costs for this project are expected to increase by 500 million euros to approximately 5.1 billion euros.
