The cabinet promised in the program manifesto a solution for high electricity prices for the industry and a new subsidy scheme of the renewables and cogeneration.
The economy ministry has still a lot of work ahead in the energy sector amid the mid-term and the arrival of the new cabinet. The economy ministry failed to fulfill a lot of plans in the power sector laid down in the program manifesto which, according to Prime Minister- designate Peter Pellegirini, the new cabinet should acquire. In early 2018, Economy Minister Peter Ziga, who is likely to remain in his post also under the leadership of new Prime Minister Peter Pellegrini, promised major changes in the power sector this year before the political crisis sparked. The ministry plans to reform the subsidy scheme for electricity generation from the renewables and combined heat and power.
