The operation of the Vojany power plant continues, Finance Minister Peter Kazimir said following the cabinet’s session on Wednesday. „The majority shareholder has decided to continue the operation of the power plant. According to my information, the shutdown of the power plant is not even being considered as it is of great importance for the region. It provides employment and ensures total electricity generation capacity,“ said Kazimir. Kazimir was present at signing a memorandum with the company Theta Energy Group at the end of the previous government’s term. The company wanted to invest roughly 700 million dollars in the power plant in order to transform it into a renewable energy source and attract higher added value investors to its premises. Kazimir has no information on this project now. However, he does not think that the negotiations were pointless.
