The third nuclear unit in Mochovce is to be launched in early 202. The budget for the project will be raised by 270 million euros.
The power utility Slovenske Elektrarne (SE) expects to put the third nuclear unit of the Mochovce NPP into operation in early 2019 instead of end of this year, the company informed the news agency SITA. The company further informed that the technical readiness of the third unit for fuel loading is expected during the summer. Under relevant permissions, a period of eight months may be between the technical readiness of the construction for fuel loading and fuel loaning itself. Last time, the completion of two nuclear units was estimated at 5.4 billion euros. “The delay will have an impact on the budget which is expected to increase by 270 million euros, e.g. 5 % of the total costs. The company Slovak Power Holding B.V, a majority shareholder of Slovenske Elektrarne, will fully cover this increase in the budget,“ a spokesman for Slovenske Elektrarne, Miroslav Sarissky, informed. Slovak Power Holding B.V. has a 66-percent share in Slovenske Elektrarne. The shareholders of Slovak Power Holding B.V. are Energeticky a Prumyslovy Holding (50 %) and Enel (50 %).
