One of the units of the nuclear power plant responded correctly and moved into the operation mode which enables to cope with crisis situations.

The electric grid in Europe was under threat of collapse last week. The problems at the German-Austrian border could have jeopardized also the Slovak electricity grid. “The effects have spread across the all systems in the interconnected European grid very rapidly. Naturally, it also affected the Slovak electricity grid. The impact is, however, a subject to processing of information of the entities affected and it will take some time to process it,“ the head of the communication department at Slovenska Elektrizacna Prenosova Systavy (SEPS) Norbert Deak informed the portal vEnergetike.sk. The Slovak grid is one of the smallest ones in the European system and is influenced by the events that take place elsewhere. According to the Slovak operator of the electricity grid, if the collapse was followed by black-out, it could have had an impact on our grid. “The size of the threat is being analyzed by the association of the grid operators. A group of experts was established and they are expected to submit a report on the causes in a short time,” Deak said.
