The National Nuclear Fund, which administers funds for nuclear waste disposal, expected to collect 70 million euros from Slovak electricity consumers. Eventually it was 65 million euros.
Slovak consumers contribute tens of millions of euros for nuclear waste disposal. Last year, the Slovaks paid over 65 million euros for a so-called back-end fuel cycle via their electricity bills, a decline by more than 2 million euros year-on-year. The National Nuclear Fund, which administers the funds for nuclear waste disposal, expected to collect up to 70 million euros. However, the economy ministry transferred almost 7.5 million euros less into the Fund’s account in January 2016 due to cuts in funds from electricity balance (import-export) in 2015 according to the data on cross-border transfers.
