According to Prime Minister Robert Fico, some privatizers are reportedly considering selling their stakes in distribution companies.

The state will seek ways to strengthen its position in the energy sector. „Next Tuesday (at the Coalition Council’s session – editor’s note), economy minister will present a clear vision of how the state wants to behave in the energy sector. We want to talk about additional steps that we are able to take in order to strengthen the state’s status in the energy sector,“ Smer-SD’s leader, Robert Fico, said after the Coalition Council’s session on Wednesday. Coalition partners are expected to discuss whether the state should or shouldn’t strengthen its position in the company Slovenske Elektrarne at the next Coalition Council. They will also analyze how to strengthen the state’s position in distribution companies. „It is said that privatizers are considering selling their stakes. If they want to sell them we want to get foot in the door to strengthen the state’s position. We want the state to be more powerful in the energy sector,“ said Fico.
