The government led by Robert Fico took over the hydropower plant Gabcikovo from Slovenske Elektrarne more than three years ago partly due to alleged unwillingness to carry out its general overhaul.
After a year, the company Vodohospodarska Vystavba failed to find a supplier for the modernization of the hydropower plant Gabcikovo. The state-owned company is still assessing the tender. „The assessment of the submitted bids by the professional commission and their explanation under the Public Procurement Act continues. The participants of the tender have not yet answered all the questions concerning their bids,“ the head of Director General’s Office at Vodohospodarska Vystavba Stela Istvanfyova informed the portal vEnergetike.sk. Vodohospodarska Vystavba opened the envelopes with the bids at the end of January 2018. Eight months after the opening, the company is refusing to provide more details about the tender. The portal vEnergetike.sk has not found out the number of bidders interested in the general overhaul of the largest hydropower plant. „We are unable to provide further information as we want to ensure transparency of the public procurement,“ Istvanfyova stated.
